Abby Schiller

Instruments: Voice, Piano, Guitar

Prior to attending Berklee College of Music on a merit-based scholarship, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Abby Schiller was already teaching voice and music theory at Progressive Music Center in Raleigh, NC to a diverse group of students ranging from ages 5 to 65. After graduating from Berklee, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Music with concentrations in Vocal Performance, Songwriting, and Music Business, Abby moved to Nashville, Tennessee to continue her career as an artist, songwriter, performer, and music instructor.

Abby creates a safe space with a focus on kindness and empowerment. She always uplifts each student’s individuality, creativity, and love of music. Lesson plans are tailored specifically to each student based on their individual needs and goals. Abby teaches all contemporary vocal styles (Pop, Rock, Country, R&B, etc.) as well as musical theatre. She also offers beginner ukulele, piano, and guitar lessons as well as instruction in performance techniques, music theory, ear training, and songwriting.

In vocal lessons, Abby always puts vocal health first, ensuring students do not strain their voices by implementing fundamental techniques that will lead to a lifetime of beautiful and pain-free singing. Abby also emphasizes and values each student’s connection to the music they sing or perform - since music is inherently emotional and resonant. Sometimes in the process of learning we can forget why we first fell in love with music in the first place; Abby ensures each student recognizes the power and emotion music carries and how they can convey that in their musical performance.
